Leon Football Club is a professional football club based in Leon, Mexico. It was founded on August 20, 1944. Currently, it participates in the Mexican Premier League. Its home ground is the Leon Stadium (with a capacity of 33,943 people). The head coach is Nicolas Lacamon. The club is controlled by Grupo Pachuca. It belongs to the same sports group as Pachuca Football Club. The club has won the Mexican Football Cup five times (in 1948, 1957, 1966, 1970 and 1971) and the Mexican Primera Division Spring League twice (in the 2013-2014 season and the 2020-2021 season). In June 2023, Leon won the CONCACAF Champions League title for the first time. In terms of transfers, the club signed Joel Campbell in 2019 and loaned Colombarto to Famalicao in 2022. In March 2025, Leon was banned by FIFA from participating in the Club World Cup for violating the multi-club ownership rules, and the club publicly expressed opposition to this.
