Nottingham Forest F.C. is a professional football club based in Nottingham, England. They will compete in the English Premier League for the 2024-25 season, with their home stadium located at City Football Stadium.
In 1865, Nottingham Forest Football Club was established. On March 22 of the following year, Nottingham Forest welcomed its first official match in history against Notts County. In 1898, the team won the English FA Cup for the first time. In the 1958-59 season, Nottingham Forest reached the final of the English FA Cup and defeated Luton 2-1, winning the club's first championship trophy of the 20th century. On January 6, 1975, Brian Clough became the head coach of Nottingham Forest. In 1977, Nottingham Forest was promoted from the English Second Division to the English First Division. In the first season after promotion, Nottingham Forest won the team's first-ever top-level league championship and League Cup championship. In the 1978-79 season, Nottingham Forest finished as runners up in the First Division and also won the European Cup (predecessor of the UEFA Champions League) championship. In the 1979-80 season, Forest successfully defended their European Championship title and won the UEFA Super Cup that same year, becoming the only team to have won more Champions League titles than their home country. In the 1999-2000 season, Nottingham Forest was once again relegated from the bottom of the league, beginning a 23 year journey of lower division leagues. During this period, the team was even relegated to the third tier league, League One, from 2005 to 2008, becoming the only former European champion among the top five European leagues to be relegated to the domestic third tier league. In the 2021-2022 season, Nottingham Forest achieved fourth place in the English Championship and advanced to the promotion playoffs. In the playoff final, Nottingham Forest defeated Huddersfield 1-0, returning to the Premier League after 23 years.
In December 2024, in the 18th round of the Premier League, Nottingham Forest defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0, achieving their first four consecutive victories in the Premier League since 1995.
