Getafe CF Football Club; Getafe Club de F ú tbol (Spanish: Getafe Club de F ú tbol) is a professional football club located in Getafe, Madrid, Spain. It competes in the Spanish La Liga and plays at the Alfonso Perez Stadium.
In 1946, the Getafe Sports Football Club was officially established. After years of competing in lower tier leagues, in 1983, due to a debt crisis, Getafe Sports Football Club was officially dissolved. The team registered to participate in the regional lower level league under the name of the affiliated club Getafe Hope and changed its name to Getafe Football Club (referred to as "Getafe Team"). In the 1993-94 season, Getafe won the runner up of the Segunda Divisi ó n B League, marking the first time in the team's history that they entered the Segunda Divisi ó n. In the 2003-04 season, under the leadership of head coach Jose Uribe, Getafe was promoted directly to La Liga as runners up in the Segunda Divisi ó n. In the 2004-05 season, Getafe made their debut in La Liga and ranked 13th in the league. In the 2006-07 season, Getafe team won the runner up of the King's Cup and qualified for the next season's UEFA Cup. In the 2007-08 season, Hertha reached the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup and was ultimately eliminated by Bayern Munich Football Club. In the King's Cup, Getafe once again won the runner up. In the 2015-16 season, Getafe ranked 19th in La Liga, ending their 12 year streak of La Liga and being relegated to La Liga 2. In the 2016-17 season, Getafe team recovered under the leadership of new coach Pepe Bordalas, ranking third in La Liga. After promotion playoffs, they returned to La Liga. In the 2018-19 season, Getafe ranked 5th in La Liga, achieving the best result in team history. In the 2019-20 season, Getafe finished second in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League, but lost to Inter Milan in the round of 16 and missed out on the quarter finals.
In the 2023-24 season, Getafe will rank 12th in La Liga.
