Leicester City F.C. is a football club located in Leicester City, England, competing in the English Premier League for the 2024-25 season.
Leicester Fosse, the predecessor of Leicester City, was founded by a group of alumni from Weygerston School in 1884 and joined the English Football Association in 1890. In 1894, the team participated in the English Football League Two, and after the end of the first match in 1919, the team was renamed to its current name. [16] Leicester City has won the English Second Division (third tier) championship six times in its history, the English First Division (second tier) championship once, the English Football League Cup championship three times, and the FA Cup championship once. In the 2013-2014 season, Leicester City won their first ever English Football Champions League championship, entering the English Premier League for the first time in 10 years. On May 3, 2016, Leicester City won the 2015-2016 Premier League championship two rounds ahead of schedule, becoming the sixth team to win the title and the first top-level league championship in the team's 132 year history. On October 27, 2018, shortly after taking off from the Royal Stadium, the helicopter carrying Weichai crashed, resulting in the death of Weichai and four other people on board. In May 2021, Leicester City won their first FA Cup championship in team history. In August of the same year, Leicester City won the Community Shield championship.
In the 2023-24 season, under the leadership of Italian coach Enzo Maresca, Leicester City won their record breaking eighth Championship title with 97 points. Despite being 37 years old, Valdi remains an important figure in the team, scoring 20 goals in all competitions and helping Leicester City return to the Premier League.
